Favorite Songs Summer 2017

I feel like this summer I’ve been listening to some really great songs so I felt like sharing some of them. I think most of them you’ll know but I just wanted to show some appreciation for a select few of the great artists and songs I have been listening to.
(All songs linked below)

MØ – Final Song

The first song is a total classic summer song. A good beat, a happy vibe, memorable melody… It’s the kinda song you can listen to on car rides, at a barbeque or other get-together’s and even party’s.

CNCO- Reggeatón Lento (Bailemos)

Instead of adding “Despacito” to this list (because I think it’s too obviously a great summer classic) I wanted to highlight a different Hispanic song. I’ve been listening to “Reggeatón Lento” for months already and it still makes me want to dance, no matter where I am. A few weekends ago I was at a lake with friends and we danced to this song on the beach by the water… and that’s a feeling that returns every time I listen to this song.

Khalid – Young Dumb & Broke

Okay, this song is realllyyy great. In fact, Khalid’s whole album is. You can pick any song off his album “American Teen” for what I call the chill-vibes kind of music. I think his voice is so unique and that makes all the songs good. The bonus is most of them are very catchy.

Julia Michaels – Issues

I gotta say this one is maybe more of a guilty pleasure… but how can you not just sing along to it. “I got issues, but you got ‘em toooooo”. I seriously listen to this song at least 2x every time I hear it I’m that obsessed. Anyway I made great memories related to this song too so it’s for sure on my summer favorites.

Andy Grammar – Fresh Eyes

This is a really great song and a really great music video too. It’s positive, cute, uplifting. I guess it’s totally a feel-good song and that’s what I really like about it.

Imagine Dragons – Thunder

This song has rhythm. I love Imagine Dragons for making songs that actually pulse through your veins. I guess a song about thunder doesn't exactly mirror the perfect summer day but the energy the song radiates is great either way.

Ed Sheeran – Nancy Mulligan

It’s clear (to me at least) that Ed Sheeran’s newest album “Divide” is incredible! Like almost the best ever. And I think he deserves all the recognition and success that the album earned so far. I picked this song because I think the melody is so upbeat (and I love the Irish vibe) and I’m still not sick of it.

LOTTE – Auf beiden Beinen

I think the lyrics of this song are great. It actually makes me quite emosh because I can absolutely relate to the lyrics. I almost feel like the lyrics are the words I want to say to my parents because the reality of having really moved away from home seems more and more real to me every day. (Yea, it’s a German one)

Willy William – Ego

Okay yea this one is French and I honestly have no idea what it’s about but the beat is so good! I actually hear it in the gym sometimes but also with friends and gatherings. It just really gets people pumped and that’s what’s seriously awesome about it.

Aaand that's my short and sweet selection. Let me know what you think of my picks and what your favorite songs of the summer are.

Studded Shorts

For a really long time I have wanted to decorate my own pair of pants with studs. The only reason I have never gotten to it before is because I never found affordable studs anywhere. However the other day I found a package of 10 studs for 2€ at "I Am" (a jewelry store in Germany). Even though that may not sound cheap it can get you quite far aaand it's the only thing I could find anyway. I bought two packets.

So anyway, here is what you will need:

The pair of pants of shorts you want to decorate.
The studs. I got square shaped ones. It's best to get the studs which have metal teeth on each side as these are easiest to clip through material and also last.
And some pliers to press the studs onto the pants.

Okay. The next step is laying out the studs on the pants (where you want to secure them later). I decided to put them on the back pocket.

It's okay if they are just roughly placed (because while a lot of them will probably fall when you clip the studs on). Once they are all in place push the teeth of the studs through the material. Now turn the pocket inside out so you can secure the studs. Do this by pushing the teeth of the studs down, towards the center.

You can use the pliers to make this step a little easier.

Aand that's it! It's probably smart to check that the studs are still in approximately the right place from time to time by just turning the pocket back to the outside.

And that's it!:) this was my finished product.

The German Christmas Dish "Bratäpfel" (Baked Apples)

First of all, here is what you'll need:
4 Apples
1 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Vanilla Sugar
1 tbsp Butter
0.5 ts Cinamon
50g Nuts
50g Dried Fruits
1 ts Honey
Vanilla sauce

Okay. The first thing you will need to do is preheat the oven to 180°C.
Now, remove the core of the apple. Feel free to cut it out quite generously as this is the hole you will later be filling with your other ingredients.

I have that handy device which is meant just for carving apples, however this can be done using a knife too (even though that is definitely more complicated!)

The next step is to prepare the nut and fruit mixture to fill the apples. This is done by dumping all the ingredients (except for the vanilla sauce into a bowl).

Melt the butter into the mixture and make sure all the ingredients are blended together well.

The next step is to fill the four apples with the fruit-nut mixture.

I added an extra bit of honey on top of it all. Before it all goes into the oven for 20 minutes at 180°C.

And once those 20 minutes are over you add a little vanilla sauce and you're done!

Enjoy!
